Neelanjan Datta

I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Economics at Cornell University.

My research fields are Public Economics, Political Economy, and Macro-Development. I use both theoretical and empirical methods to address questions in fiscal policy design.

My primary strand of research explores the positive and normative aspects of the effects of financial and political distortions on firm and subnational fiscal outcomes. In my co-authored work, I have studied the role of information aggregation in designing optimal tax enforcement policy in different strategic settings.

I am on the job market during the 2022-23 cycle and will be available for interviews at the ASSA and EEA meetings.
